For those who are not aware of it, a 92-year-old African-American woman in Philadelphia by the  name of Viviette Applewhite, was blocked from voting for the first time in her voting history.  She marched with Martin Luther King for the right to have equal rights in America, as all citizens are entitled to have. It is more commonly known as the Civil Rights Movement.

The case is going to court thank goodness!  When she tried to get appropriate picture ID so she could vote, she was turned away because she does not have a birth certificate.  This will affect many other minorities and has been done deliberately by the Republicans in 17 States to prevent, minorities, students, and the elderly from voting for President OBama as they are the largest groups who vote Democrat.

Out of 31 million  voters voting in Pennsylvania only 12 were found to be fraudulent votes and yet the Republicans insist that picture ID is necessary to prevent voter fraud.  They are at it again, just as they were during the Bush vs. Gore campaign.  Their real intent is to steal the election for Mitt Romney.

Voter fraud is so not a part of what has happened at the polls but  these bigots are still reeling from the fact that it was the students and women’s vote that elected a Black man and they are doing their best to make sure it does not happen again. There are many Americans who cannot always make it to the Motor Vehicle Dept. to get a picture ID because of distance, conflict of work and classes, lack of transportation or time, or ill-health due to aging and disability that will be unable to vote in this election because of the restrictions being placed on them to have a picture ID.

According to our Constitution all Americans who show up at the election polls have a right to vote as does the absentee voters.  There are no restrictions placed on our right to vote.  However Republican governors throughout America have placed restrictions on the voter that is in direct conflict with our Constitution.

When these Americans  can and do make the effort and take the time to co-operate with this highly Unconstitutional law that has passed in 17 States, they are turned away because they do not have the necessary papers.  Due to millions of adoptions, unknown parentage due to births at home,  grandparents and often family member not filing the birth certificates before it became law that Doctors file the same, others who have been granted asylum while others arrive from war-torn zones where any permanent records are either difficult to get or have been destroyed and many having been closed adoptions, hundreds of thousands of people in America do not have a birth certificate.  The majority of these voters are Barack OBama supporters.

The Republicans however deny that they are making any attempts to block voters for Barack OBama, but instead claim it is necessary to prevent voter fraud.  I repeat every expert asked outside of Washington has said that voter fraud is so low as to be non existent in America. 17 States are requiring that everyone have a birth certificate before they will issue them a picture ID.  It is just more of the corruption taking place in the Republican Party today.

The man most responsible for the direction the Republican party has taken is Republican lobbyist and right-wing Conservative, Grover Norquist.  He came into notice when Ronald Reagan appointed him to look into  tax reconstruction.  He is the Republican most powerful and some say the most corrupt man in the Republican Party today.  He is known as the man most responsible for turning the Republican Party into the Party it has become. Carl Rove next to him is in the minor leagues.

He is the man behind getting George W. Bush elected and has every intention to make certain that if Mitt Romney is to gain the support of the Tea Party and the Rick Santorum voters that Mitt follows to the “T” what he is told to do by the Conservatives.  Until they get a complete agreement out of Mitt Romney then the Conservatives will stay home and not vote for him according to what he and others have said. Once Mitt makes the deal with the right or Grover Norquist there will be no going back, as Grover will deny him the ability to flip-flop, as he is accustomed to doing. Mitt will not campaign, however, on the agreed to deal as if he does run an honest campaign as he has already acknowledged, he will lose.

Grover Norquist announced that all the right is looking for is a person who has no voice in policy and decision-making as the Conservatives  will call those shots.  All they need is a man with 5 digits that can sign their wishes into law and any Bill that is passed to him.  They only need the signature of a man who will be their President.  In other words they are looking for a puppet president.

Grover Norquist is also responsible for making sure that 100% of all the Republicans are signed into a pledge to pass the Ryan Bill that will eliminate everything that has been established so that the poor and middle class can pull themselves out of poverty and care for themselves and their medical needs while denying low-interest student loans and women birth control and eliminating Social Security as we know it. Because Republican Dick Lugar of Indiana has called the Ryan Plan  a ridiculous plan and unfair to the American people, Grover Norquist, is backing and supporting  his opposition Mourdock instead.  He seems to have unlimited funds that guarantee that his candidates win the election, when he throws his support behind them.

This may not be an easy power to enforce with Mitt Romney as he is first and foremost the Mormon’s choice for President and as such he has as many bullies behind him as Grover Norquist has.  It is no accident that his dad ran for the same office and his Mom ran for the Senate.  A great deal of Corporate America is owned by the Mormon Church or dependent on Baine  Capital and Company to restructure their businesses, so they will agree on Tax cuts for the wealthy and removing restrictions on Wall Street and Corporate America along with denying women birth control through their own insurance policies, since the Mormon Church bans it out right.

The Mormon Church spent Millions of dollars to defeat the Equal Rights Amendment beginning in the 1920’s  and has not changed its stance on it, so Mitt can agree with that demand from the right. They are also in agreement when it comes to stopping women from making their own choices on contraception, conception, and other health issues while eliminating funding for Planned Parenthood.

Also it was the dollars of the Mormon Church that was behind Prop. 8 in California to ban rights to the gay population, so they ,as Mitt has already shown, do agree on that, as well. Only the Republican Party who are heavily Evangelical backed still refuse to understand that all Americans are endowed with the same rights and that Religion should play no role in denying any rights to any American citizen.  The churches can refuse to marry in their own Church but they have no power to eliminate those rights to Civil marriages. To do so is unconstitutional on their part.  Every State that has tried  deny civil rights to any American will find their law contested in the Supreme Court eventually.  The Constitution is very clear on civil rights of all Americans over religious convictions.

Mitt,  is not the type of malleable person that George W. Bush was so it will be interesting to see what direction the Santorum and Romney meeting will take them. The Mormon Church relies heavily on Government to feed the hungry and that is  in direct conflict with the goal of the Tea Party and the Ryan Plan.

It is difficult for me to believe that Mitt will be the rights puppet as first and foremost he is representing the Mormon Church. It is history that tells us that once Grover Norquist seals the deal by guaranteeing the votes, then his candidate of choice has no ability to go back on the deal made.  With Mitt’s soul already spoken for by the Mormon Church the negotiations will take time as we have seen already with the delay of the Santorum endorsement. Anyone who believes it is just because they don’t like each other after a dirty primary run, is either naive or misleading themselves or the American public. Mitt,  personally, does lean more moderate, but he is being  reinvented as I write this.  We will know if and when he does agree to the pressure of ,Grover Norquist, as when he does he will gain the full support and endorsement of Rick Santorum and his constituency.

Michelle  Bachman announcing her support today is just a token move to offer the olive branch from the Tea Party.   What Mitt really needs is the support of the Santorum voters, and when he gets that then we will know just how far right Mitt will lean in order to win the election. He is walking the tight rope between the ideology of the Mormon Church and  the far right, and yet he still  needs the moderate vote as well. This is one election year I am glad that we  have an honest and honorable man to vote for in the fall.  I, of course, will vote for Barack OBama in November. I hope you join me.
