On several occasions Mitt has referred to the fact that Barack OBama is not intuned with regular people. That is dangerous territory for Mitt Romney to enter, not just because he must think American workers and voters are all stupid, but because he is both so disingenuine and apparently out of touch with, “regular folks, in his own campaign. Let me explain:
Let’s go back to when Mitt made a $10,000.00 bet, for starters. How many of us, who still deal in reality, think that if we are not setting the odds in Vegas, that the 99% are making a $10,000.00 bet with anyone?
I don’t know what is more dangerous;Mitt left to his own vices or Mitt following the script written for him by his writers. I recommend that you read my post called, “The Pathetic Lazy Rich” on this blog, as it will explain further why we have such inept politicians. If you need to understand further then follow along and you will see what I mean:
Mitt Romney’s intro is,”We need to bring back the soul to America.” This has been scripted for him by his writers. I can’t imagine a more out of touch remark, the man can make, that will scare off the voters more.
At a time, when a large group of Republicans, are having to convince themselves to vote for Mitt Romney, because they do know that there is no other religion that professes to be Christian, in America, that scares them more or subjects women to that of second class citizens more, unless timidly they might think it would be,the Tea Party sponsored Fundamentalists or the Jehovah Witnesses, they should not be advising Mitt to say that he is the man to give back the soul to America.
His writers should be smart enough not to say a Mormon,is the answer to,”Give back the Soul to America, when too many question Mitts own ability to own a pure one.”
I can’t help but think that if the Romney campaign, were aware of the fact that women far out number, male voters in America, and the majority are pro-choice they would be writing lines that worked for him when he ran in a more liberal environment as they did in Massachusetts.Aren’t we all certain they will once he gets past Iowa and South Carolina?
Not all of us come from that State but certainly they must know, both Mitt Romney and his campaign writers, that they have not seen anything yet, when it comes to opening up that vault of stored history. However, since they have come from the State of Iowa and are in South Carolina, where the Evangelical votes carry, they are treating all Americans like we are not intuned with the Romney campaign, and instead the Romney campaign is clearly out of touch with just how sophisticated that today’s voters really are.
His writers, if he can not figure it out himself, also needs to get the five Romney sons off of the stage, when they are or close to service duty age. If Romney is going to talk about taking out Iran and none of his sons are wearing military uniforms, he is only enraging families who sacrificed for 10 long years.
The sentiment after ten years of war in Iraq, with many of our own soldiers questioning if Iraq was even worth it, cannot be higher against chickenhawks. Those are the cowards who did not go to war or try to help families who suffered, nor will they ever send their own children to war, while they think nothing at all,of jeopardizing our children in a war when risks could not be higher, are not too highly held in esteem today.
For those, who are in denial about how the other 99% live or just too far removed from even imagining it,you do need to understand that how much money a person makes, does speak about what kind of leader he will make.
If we had honest politicians for the last decade plus, you might be right, about it not being such a big deal how much a person makes, so much, but Romney should know better that anyone else in America, that politicians are not honest and his refusal to turn over his tax returns do nothing but give the 99% justification, to feel that money or the 1%, will take priority in his White House, over the 99%, just as it has for the last decade in the Party he represents.
Mitt Romney, is a candidate for the office of White House, who is totally out of touch, if he does not know that. He only adds insult to injury by saying he will consider showing his tax returns, after he has already won the primary. Mitt has to be either the most dishonest candidate to ever run for the office or the most out of touch to have ever ran for the office.
I can continue with the list but it will go on until the doomsday, that some like to predict, but since I have obviously smarter readers, than what the Romney campaign has writers, or their PR team is making the mistake to think all workers are stupid, as I previously mention in my post,”The Pathetic Lazy Rich”,I will let you finish the list, yourself.
I recommend you make it fun by enlisting your children and seeing who can come up with the longest list. Don’t forget to put on that list, “I like firing people,” and “My speaker fees were not that much, they were only $375,000.00.” Those are his own gems as even I don’t think his writers did anything but cringed when he offered both of those jewels.
With over a million Democrats signing the petition in Wisconsin, to run Tea Party darling, Scott Walker out of the office of governorship in their fine State, I predict the number one thing that will defeat Mitt Romney is Mitt Romney’s inability to communicate with us, the American voters, and the arrogance of the GOP, who thinks anyone can beat Barack OBama. If Democrats can organize like that in the State of Wisconsin, that isn’t anything along side of the way we can organize against the hypocrites who are not tuned into the needs of the 99%, middle class workers.
I finally saw trickle down economics working in South Carolina when Mitt reached into his pocket and gave that women $150.
This election will be all about the 1% versus the 99% an how the economic system has been tilled over the past 30 years to favor the top 1%. This will be a correction election and the Republicans couldn’t have pick a better guy to represent the top 1%. You can expect Mitt to keep sticking his foot in his mouth because he is completely out of touch. Today’s gaff, he pay about 15% in federal taxes because most of his income is from invests, but last year he made a little from his book sale which he gave away and a small amount from speaking fees. That small amount was $374,000. HIs small amount is 7 times the average annual income, and he had no clue. The late night comics will love this guy.
I couldn’t agree more, but the part that is worth watching are the stooges on Fox News, who started saying the Occupy movement was over in Nov. and would never last. It is a toss up if the Tea Party,Conservatives, Rush Limbaugh or Fox News hate them worse for drawing attention to what is going on in the Country.
If we don’t take this election too seriously, there is a lot of humor taking place. Just watching them go after each other with the mud slinging, they typically save for the Democrats, is worth pulling a chair up for.
It is going to be old stuff, and sound like sour grapes, by the time Mitt actually starts running against OBama. I can’t wait to see the Dem.s unload the treasure chests in the Massachusetts’ campaign.
If they hadn’t of been so arrogant and thought anyone could beat OBama, they would have tried a little harder than coming up with Mitt, Newt, and Santorum, who all have a checkered past that they are trying to disguise.
Thanks for the comment as I agree, the 99% are pissed and OBama will have to work for it, but the Republicans will defeat themselves. It’s a given that hate always defeats those who refuse to let it go. Again, I appreciate the comment.
I think the potential Republican candidates that would have a legitimate shot at beating Obama were looking at two things. First, the ecomony is getting better and they know it (check out my latest post “Obama has made the Economy Worse, Really?” at http://politonomicsandtravel.wordpress.com/2012/01/14/obama-has-made-the-economy-worse-really/
They recognize that it is difficult to beat an incumbent president when things are improving. Second, they are waiting for the Tea Party crazies to burn themselves out. There is nobody out there that can pass the Tea Party test. Even Ronald Reagan would be called a RINO if they look at his record without his name attached to it. I have an older post called the “Real Legacy of Ronald Reagan”. The up and comers in the Republican Party will have a much better chance in 2016 when there is no incumbent. That is why they are looking at the bottom of the barrel for a nominee in 2012. Mitt will get it but let’s hope Newt pulls out S.C. so we can keep the show going. I love watching them tear each other apart and accuse each other of acting like Democrats.

Ahh I love politics! Those who don’t are missing out on so much. It is the only time that we do not always have to see life as the same or can even disagree, and still both be right. With the recession going on and three years of lies against OBama, I still think they thought he should have been easy to beat.
I think they were more interested in bringing Sarah Palin or Chris Christy, or one of the other, up and comers, in as Vice President and they would follow up with another 8 years. By doing that they would argue they were forced into shutting down the government agencys of their choice, and replacing Social Security and Medicare with private insurance, and convince the American public, it was necessary due to lack of funds. In my estimation it is no accident that all of the Republican candidates running have checkered backgrounds.
With Social Security being the largest insurance company and 6 times larger than all the private insurance companies combined,in America, the private sector has been salivating over it, for take over, for years. Social Security paid for itself, and had enough reserve to pay for the babyboomers through 2072, until the Republicans drained it as soon as Bush took office.
The fact that most of today’s hospitals are now privately owned, it would be a good combination, to charge the American public anything they pretty much wanted and get government re-imbursement for it at the same time. What a better combination for the greedy, to get even richer at the expense to the workers. No One loves government welfare or feels more entitled to it, more than the 1% do, as long as it goes into their pockets.
The lies worked for them in 2010 so I still think it was and is the arrogance of the GOP, that felt the people are stupid and they could string us along with their lies, forever. I don’t think the Tea Party particularly bothers them, at this point, and after they do their dirty work, so the moderates keep their hands clean, they will be chased out then.
They totally thought the Occupy movement would move on when the weather got cold and misjudged everything. They thought if they talked about the dirty, shiftless, bastards(their terminology, not mind) on Fox News,Rush Limbaugh, and the social networks,we would all buy into it. Those who did try to ruin it with their garbage were ran off when it got cold. Don’t be surprised to see them paid to come back in the Spring.
Hell I don’t think they even realize yet that they are going to lose and all of Mitts’ money or the Super Pacs, will not be enough to win this. The people are done with their bullsh**t and it will show up on election day, if they do not have the polls blocked so those who can vote for OBama, do not have to stand in line for hours, or the electoral votes are stacked like their conservative judges in 31 States.
The only thing that concerns me about Newt, is we will have to listen to more of his swelled head and how Clinton listened to him and played a minor role next to his own great ability, to do with balancing the budget for four years, but he single handedly saved America, so therefor is ordained to be president.
The regulations on the banks and corporations, had wiggle room to use, as negotiating power with the Republican controlled house and Senate in 1993, as versus when Obama took over and all regulations had been lifted. Obama did not have anything left to trade them and had to stop the bleed by putting them back on. Of course this and no one worked harder to get Bill Clinton impeached thant Newt, is left out in Newt’s campaign speeches.
I agree Newt can be humorous when he exposes the truth on Mitt, while denying his own lies. It has proved to be more of a circus than a primary campaign at this point. I can’t say I have hated it:) Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.
Where did you get your information that Catholic hospitals cover viagra! There are so few answers..such as where the catholic church spends it’s money! There is great secrecy and they are not held accountable in how they spend their money. They don’t appear to give donations to their schools, to their hospitals. Catholic charities appear to be responsible for donations…and they are basically a independent organization…who doesn’t get funding from the church! Looking forward to your answers! Thanks! Jean
I agree that there is great secrecy and even the Convents who run their hospitals as well as their schools are not given money by the Church. So many nuns when they become elderly have to depend on their families in their old age because the Church does not support them. I also agree that Catholic charities are supported by Government subsidies of food supplies,as well as, volunteer staff and donor contribution’s.
We are on the same page of the total lack of contributions made to alms for the poor by the Catholic Church. However when I know College Professors who teach at Catholic Universities and Hospitals and they tell me they have coverage for Viagra and male health problems, then I know that men are covered in the Insurance programs provided by the Church.
It’s amazing what we learn when we know the right people. The Catholic Church owns a number of Insurance Companies just a few are:Catholic Mutual Group,Catholic Church Insurance Limited,National Catholic Captive Group, and Western Catholic Union Health, I hope this helps. Thanks for you comment Jean. I appreciate it.
cats,
Let me add my 2 cents. I think most people are missing the big picture because the Catholic Church is attempting to create a social wedge issue for the 2012 election. As I understand it 28 states have similar laws, including MA in their Romneycare insurance regulations. But this infringement on religious freedom arguement has not been an issue previously. States are not permitted to violate the Constitution, so why is it an issue now? Because it is a presidential election year, the economy is getting better and they need a social wedge issue. But if people would step back and look at what the real constitutional issue is, I think it beomes clear the Catholic Church does not have a leg to stand on. The question is, does requiring an employer who is engaging in commerce among the several states (Article 1, Section 8) have to comply with federal regulations reguarding that commerce? Clearly the answer is yes, and there is a long history of court cases upholding the federal governments authority to regulate commerce. (Which is the grounds upon which they will have to find Obamacare constitutional.) The Catholic Church has chosen to engage in commerce activities which are beyond the exercise of their religion. If they chose to operate businesses like universities or hospitals then they must comply with the same regulations that apply to non-religious businesses. Just because the university or hospital is operated by a religious orginization it does not mean that all of its students, clients or employees are members of that religion or hold the same beliefs. There should be an exemption for the church’s operation, because they are not a business engaged in commerce. But once they make the choice, of their own free will, to engage in commerce they have to play by the same rules.

If you read my article from yesterday entitled “More Hypocrisy On Birth control”, you will find that we are almost in total agreement. I will add that they needed a Social Issue to raise the Troops since they don’t like Romney and Santorum is their candidate of choice sinse Gingrich has too much garbage. Thanks for the comment. It’s greatly appreciated.
cats,
I totally agree. They needed a social wedge issue for the election and this is it. The day after Santorum won MN, MO, CO I emailed a Republican friend of mine who is the country club type and a Romney supporter and told him that I thought this was a controversy raise by the Catholic bishops to boost Rick Santorum, since he is Catholic, and hurt Romney because he will never win over the Rebuplican base on social issues. Romney’s only card is the economy and as it keeps getting better he has no issue on which to attack Obama. He didn’t think so, but he is in denial. He still thinks the big money will win out. At this point who becomes the Republican’s nominee is in the hands of Newt Gingrich. If Newt really wants to prevent Romney from winning, he needs to drop out before super Tuesday. If he stays in he splits votes with Santorum and Romney will win. An odd twist don’t you think?
Dan
Yeah I do. They are in leaque with the Evangelicals where in the Past, Since Reagan, it has either been the Catholics or the Evangelicals who have won. With Newt’s ego he won’t quit easy but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him drop out once the Conservatives finish with their 2 day meeting. He will be pressured pretty hard, I think. If he doesn’t get out he wwill embarass himself if he is capable of embarassment.
The enthusiasm for the general Election amongst the Democrats has risen from 48% to 58% and with the independents deciding that President OBama is a better choice than any of the Republicans, we might just end up with a landslide with a President chosen by the people. It would be a nice change.
I live in a Republican State and my husband is Republican and everybody I know say they can’t vote for any of the Republican candidates this year. That may change when they get in the booth, though. I think everybody is too embarass to say they might vote for one of the Yahooes, Thanks again for the comment.
cats,
I saw a Republican poll today that said 20% of Republicans were considering voting for Obama. Ouch, that will hurt their chances. Any chance your red state might go blue if there is a depressed turn out? I am in Florida, we just don’t know how to count votes. We also elect some really dumb people. Take my congressman (please take him) Allen West, they don’t come much dumber.
That has to be tough, living in a Republican state with a Republican husband.
I am starting to feel much more confident that Obama will be reelected and might even carry some traditional red states. The only thing that has me concerned is the financial crisis in Europe. I don’t know how closely you follow the markets or economic news, but it appears that we just hit a major market top yesterday on the news that a Greek bailout deal had been reached. But all technical indicators are pointing to a sharp downturn. The Greek deal is doomed to fail and Europe will weigh on the world’s and our economy. If the Europe recession stalls our recovery, it will give the Republicans a shot in November. I also expect the Republican to lose the House, but I do see them having a real good chance at getting the Senate.
Dan
It’s against their Religion to go blue. That’s why I write so much on the Conservative mentality. My husband however operates on common sense, so we are friends. Many of the women vote the way their husbands do so most of my conversations on the subject, are with men and they know I can hold my own:)
The Conservatives are too out of touch with all the yelling over the contraception and Religious nonsense. OBama just sealed the deal with women voters. Clinton would never have won his second term if it was not for the single women vote. McCain lost 15% of the women’s vote and lost. They just keep digging their own hole deeper and are so out of touch that they don’t even appear to know it is 2012. Thats what you get when you live by the Bible. I agree that OBama’s only problem is if the economy tanks with Europe and slows down again. Since he is the incumbent he has to try harder. It’s all about woman power at this point. Thanks for the comment.
